Monthly Meetings
· 1st Wednesday, 6:30 PM: Community Development Committee.
· 2nd Wednesday, 6:30 PM: Finance and Administration Committee
· 3rd Wednesday, 7:00 PM: City Council Legislative Meeting, Action Items
· 4th Wednesday, 7:00 PM: Council Meeting, Work Session
The Mission City Council consists of eight representatives, two from each of the City’s four Wards. One representative is elected from each Ward at each election.
Election Terms
The City of Mission has elected to exempt itself from the application of the provisions of K.S.A. 14-201 and K.S.A. 25-2107, and has provided substitute and additional provisions for terms of mayor and city council members:
· Those council positions that are to be elected in April 2003 shall be elected for an initial term of three (3) years. The following election in April 2006 for those same council positions shall then be for a period of four (4) years.
· Those council positions which are to be elected in April 2004 and all council elections thereafter shall be elected for a period of four (4) years.
· The candidate elected mayor in April 2003 shall be elected for a term of three (3) years. Thereafter, all terms for mayor shall be for four (4) years.
· After the April 2003 election all general elections shall be held on the first Tuesday in April of even numbered years.
· At all elections the candidate for the office receiving the highest number of votes shall be declared elected, and shall hold their offices until their successors are elected and qualified.
