Police Department Hosting First Citizen Academy

The Mission Police Department will host its first Citizens Police Academy starting Monday, September 21, 2009.  The Citizens Academy is intended to give an overview of the activities of Mission Police Officers, and to offer the opportunity for citizens to learn more about what our Officers do during their shifts.  Participants will get to experience some of our training first hand, including firearms, defensive tactics, and more?

The academy will meet weekly on Monday nights from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 pm for eight consecutive weeks.  The academy is open to any Johnson County citizen (21 years of age or older), but priority is given to Mission residents.  For a tentative schedule, click here.

Persons interested in participating in the Mission Citizens Academy may call the police Department at (913) 676-8300 for an application, or click here to download an application.  The form may be completed on line and should be mailed, delivered, or faxed (913-722-3011) to Major Mark Sullivan, Mission Police Department., 6090 Woodson Road, Mission KS 66202.  All participants are subject to a background check, and priority seating will be given to Mission residents.  Applications should be received by September 4, 2009.
