Councilmember Connie Footlick has served on the Mission City Council since her election in 1994. Councilmember Footlick is currently the Council Vice President and serves on the Community Development Committee (past Vice Chair).  She is a previous member of the Finance and Administration Committee, Park and Recreation Committee, Public Works Committee, Ordinance Committee (as Chair and as member), Chair of the Safety Committee, Chair of the Sign Task Force, and Chair of the West Gateway Redevelopment Committee.

Councilmember Footlick has previously served as President of the City Council for two years.  She is also Past President of the Kansas Association of Councilmembers and Commissioners for the League of Kansas Municipalities, and is a member of the League of Kansas Municipalities Legislative Policy Committee.  Councilmember Footlick has also attained Municipal Leadership Academy Levels I and II with the League of Kansas Municipalities, and the Bronze and Silver Certificates:  Leadership Fellow in the Leadership Training Institute of the National League of Cities.

Councilmember Footlick was recently awarded the 2009 Community Service Award from Adventist Health System, and in October 2009 she and Councilmember Kring were awarded the Neighborhood Service Award presented by Morrison Ridge Area Neighborhood Organization.  She is also a graduate of the Leadership Northeast community leadership development program, and has served on the Board of Directors for that organization.  Councilmember Footlick has served on the Parent Advisory Council (for Special Education) of the Shawnee Mission School District, Executive Board of Theater for Young America, Co-Chair of United Way for Shawnee Mission Medical Center, and numerous other community organizations.

Councilmember Footlick has been employed as a Registered Nurse for Shawnee Mission Medical Center for over 25 years and serves on several professional committees with that organization.  Councilmember Footlick is the Shawnee Mission Medical Center recipient of the 2008 Community Service Award.

Connie and her husband Brian have lived in Mission for over 30 years and have a daughter, Melissa, who is a graduate of the University of Kansas.

Councilmember Debbie Kring has served on the Mission City Council since June 1999. She was initially appointed by the Mayor, and has since been re-elected in the April 2001, April 2003, April 2006, and April 2010 elections. She has served as Council President, and Chair of the Finance & Administration Committee, the Parks & Recreation Committee, the Ordinance Committee, the Environmental Tobacco Smoke Committee, and the Sustainability Task Force, and as a member of the Public Works Committee.    She currently is a member of the Finance & Administration Committee.  She resides on two National Subcommittees which support local communities (Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Steering Committee, and City Futures Panel for Community & Regional Development).

In October 2009, Councilmember Kring, along with fellow Ward III Councilmember Connie Footlick, was awarded the Neighborhood Service Award presented by the Morrison Ridge Area Neighborhood Organization.  Councilmember Kring is a graduate of the Leadership Northeast community development program in Johnson County, as well as the multicultural Leadership Program sponsored by the Urban League of Kansas City, Missouri.  Her community volunteer activities include Girls to Women, the Women's Employment Network, the Franklin Center, and St. Pius X youth groups and Finance Council.

Councilmember Kring has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management (with a minor in Science) from Baker University, and attended high school at Shawnee Mission South. She has worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for 26 years. She is presently with the Office of Public Affairs, serving as a Community Involvement Coordinator and has previously worked as a Project Manager in the abandoned hazardous waste program, and as a personnel coordinator in the human resources program. She and her husband Lynn have lived at 5819 Riggs in Mission for 24 years, and have five children and six grandchildren.
